Oct 1926 - Obit 17 Jan 2017. Chartered accountant who, with his brother Eddie former South Down M.P, established MB McGrady & Co in Downpatrick. Known affectionately as MB. Son of a merchant tailor and a nurse. He was vice-chairman of the Eastern Health Board and served as a lay member of the General Medical Council for ten years. Chairman of the Northern Ireland Central Services Agency. After retirement he obtained a diploma in the Irish language at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown. A life long member of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Society. He played a key role in helping St Patrick’s Parish build a new transept in 1993and served as chairman of the first Downpatrick pastoral council. The papal honour was presented in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio Emmanuele Gerada. He is buried in Downpatrick.
