1942 - 2014. Editor Mayo News. Town councillor. In 2012 he received the Hall of Fame award for his outstanding contribution to the people of his native Westport where he was an elected representative on Westport Town Council for 37 years. He had been Chairman of Ireland West tourism, a prominent member of Westport Tourism and involved in the Louisburgh Holiday Cottages. He was largely responsible for the location of the new Westport Tourist Office on James Street. He was also a member on the board of Mayo Adult Education, V.E.C. Leader groups, Westport Tidy Towns and school management boards and was very much to the fore in Westport's linkage with Limavady and the town twinning with Ploughastel. Spoke on Church and the Medi ain Ireland at the Archdiocese In Service session in December, 2007. He died on 22 November and is buried in Aughavale Cemetery.
