1917 - 1997. Mayo solicitor qualified in 1940, practised in Castlebar. Was the Irish agent for the estate of the missing Lord Lucan who had property interests in the area. He was coroner for West Mayo for 37 years. He originated the idea of the Castlebar International Song Contest and was instrumental in setting up the Castlebar Walking Festival. Reserve officer of the Defence Forces 1946 – 1952. Founder member of the Western Care Association and the Parliamentary Agent who drafted the Browne (Amendment of Deed of Trust) Act 1993 which resolved the inheritance issue that faced the 11th Marquess of Sligo. President Irish Association Order of Malta 1985 – 1991, having been admitted as a Knight of Malta in 1964. President ISPCC. He died on 10 May, 1997 and is buried locally.
