1916 – 1989. Dubliner and civil servant. He was Supreme Knight of Columbanus from 1975 to 1978. He was educated in Synge Street CBS. He was the first ever Collector General of Taxes as a result of which the name and signature "SP Bedford" was one of the most feared in the country! He was a member of the Society of St Vincent de Paul and also the first Chairman of the parish council in Terenure where he put his financial expertise to the benefit of the church and the local parishioners. He was married to Dympna and they had nine children. He was a keen bridge and card playerBuried in Bohernabreena as are other papal knights.
