1910 – 1987. Born in Lucan 1910, 3rd son of Dr. Joseph and Maud Hampson. Educated at O’Connell School and later trained as an accountant and subsequently became a partner in Hayden Stewart & Co. (now Hayden Brown),specialising in Personal Taxation. Married Kathleen Kennedy in 1937 and they had four children. Devoted to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for over 50 years, being National Treasurer for a considerable number of years. He created a number of Conferences, his favourite being the Conference of Our Lady of Monserrat which looked after the needy located in the Gardiner Street Church area. He instigated St. Vincent de Paul visitations to the patients in St. Brendan’s Hospital, Grangegorman, who had very few visitors if indeed any, giving them cigarettes, sweets and newspapers. Every Sunday, without fail, he visited the lonely patients in The Mater Hospital, distributing Catholic newspapers, cigarettes and sweets. He was adviser to the Society during the difficult period of the 1939-45 war. He was a founder-member and director of the St. Vincent's Housing Co. and was instrumental in buying Kerdiffstown House Holiday Centre. Resided Clonliffe Road opposite the College where he went to Mass and knew many of students. He was presented with his Papal Award on 9th.May 1981 in Archbishop's House, Drumcondra, by Most Rev. Dr. Dermot Ryan, Archbishop of Dublin
